Denis Shapovalov superior to the Spherical of 16 on the Swiss Indoors.
The Richmond Hill, Ont., native defeated China’s Shang Juncheng 6-1, 6-4 within the second spherical of the hard-court match on Tuesday.
Shapovalov fired 11 aces within the win and transformed three of six break makes an attempt. Shang was unable to transform his one interception try.
The Ninety fifth-ranked Shapovalov now awaits the winner of the match between No. 2 Casper Ruud and former prime 10 participant Roberto Bautista Agut. Fellow Canadian Felix-Auger-Alliassime, the No. 8 seed, will face Argentina’s Sebastian Baez within the Spherical of 32 on Wednesday.
