Canada’s Leylah Fernandez advances to the semi-finals in Hong Kong

Leylah Fernandez has gained twice to defend her title on the Hong Kong Tennis Open.
The Canadian, seeded third, defeated US No. 9 Bernarda Pera 6-1, 7-6 (7) within the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Fernandez, ranked thirty second on this planet, is on a great run within the Asian swing after reaching the quarterfinals final week in Tokyo.
Fernandez, of Laval, Que., saved 5 of Pera’s six halftime factors.
The Canadian will face top-ranked Diana Shnaider of Russia within the semi-finals on Saturday. Shnaider defeated unseeded Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands 6-0, 6-7, 6-2 within the different quarterfinals on Friday.
That is Fernandez’s first semi-final look since reaching the ultimate of the Rothesay Worldwide in Eastbourne, England, in June.
No. 2 seed Katie Boulter of Nice Britain meets No. 6 seed Yuan Yue of China within the different semi.
