RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Coco Gauff defeated high seed Aryna Sabalenka 7-6 (4), 6-3 on Friday to arrange a showdown with Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen within the WTA Finals.
Gauff produced six break factors to Sabalenka’s 4 and constructed momentum early within the first set and carried it into the second set.
She is the youngest 20-year-old to achieve the WTA Finals since Caroline Wozniacki in 2010.
