Canadian Marino, Stakusic reached the semi-finals of the Abierto Tampico

Canada’s Rebecca Marino is on a superb streak.

Marino, from Vancouver, booked her place within the semifinals of the WTA Tour’s Abierto Tampico in Mexico with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 8 Maya Joint of Australia on Thursday.

Marino, 33, is on an eight-match profitable streak after taking the title on the Calgary Nationwide Financial institution Challenger final week.

Marino will likely be joined within the semi-finals of the match by fellow Canadian Marina Stakusic.

The 19-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., met Italy’s Lucrezia Stefanini 0-6, 6-4, 7-5 within the different quarterfinal.

Marino will face No. 5 seed Anna Blinkova of Russia within the semifinals, whereas Stakusic will meet the winner of the No. 4 seed Tatjana Maria of Germany. 6 Sara Sorribes Tormo from Spain.

The Abierto Tampico is a WTA 125 occasion, which is the bottom mark of the tour.

Marino is ranked second in Canada and ranked 118th on the earth. Stakusic is ranked third in Canada and world No. 140.
