BEIJING — Coco Gauff gained her second title of the season with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Karolina Muchova within the China Open closing on Sunday.
On the age of 20, the sixth-ranked US participant turned the youngest China Open champion in 14 years. She can be the second American champion in Beijing, following Serena Williams’ title runs in 2004 and 2013.
It was Gauff’s eighth profession title. He improved his document in tour finals to 8-1 and has a 7-0 document in hard-court finals.
Gauff wasted no time and took the opening set in simply 31 minutes. He dropped simply 5 factors on his first serve and broke Muchova 5 instances.
